Surgery — Mobile Vet Jacksonville & St. Johns County

Spay & neuter, in a real surgical suite.

Sterilization surgery performed on board our mobile veterinary hospital — the same procedure a traditional clinic offers, with pre-surgical bloodwork and full anaesthetic monitoring, without the drop-off and the day-long wait.

Quick Answer

Spaying and neutering are sterilization surgeries that prevent unwanted litters and reduce the risk of several later-life health problems. Happy's Vet performs selected soft tissue surgeries, including spay and neuter, inside the mobile hospital's surgical suite — and the procedure is included in both Bright Beginnings first-year plans.

How surgery day works

Every procedure follows the same protocols used in a traditional clinic setting.

1

Before the day

A pre-surgical exam and bloodwork confirm your pet is a healthy candidate, and veterinarian walks you through fasting and preparation.

2

The procedure

Surgery is carried out in the mobile hospital's dedicated surgical suite, with continuous anaesthetic monitoring throughout.

3

Recovery at home

Your pet recovers in familiar surroundings rather than a kennel, with clear written aftercare instructions for the days that follow.

Common questions about spay & neuter

Timing, safety, recovery, and what is covered by a wellness plan.

The right timing varies by breed, size, and individual health, and the guidance has genuinely changed in recent years. This is a conversation to have with veterinarian directly rather than following a generic rule of thumb.

The surgical suite carries the same category of equipment and follows the same pre-surgical and monitoring protocols. Whether a mobile setting suits your particular pet is something Dr. Jones will assess honestly before scheduling.

Sterilization surgery is included in both Bright Beginnings plans — Puppy at $150 a month and Kitten at $120 a month. For adult pets outside that first year, contact us to discuss scheduling.

Most pets are noticeably brighter within a couple of days, with restricted activity usually recommended for around two weeks. You will receive specific written guidance for your pet before we leave.

Start with a conversation

Whether a mobile surgical setting is right for your pet depends on your pet — that is worth talking through properly before anything is booked.
